Strength Training for Inclusive Fitness using HUR Activ8
Elderly people and persons with disabilities require long term exercise to keep healthy like any other individuals. Some wheelchair users have difficulties getting onto the machines; others with medical condition do not know what the safety limits are; some may sustain injuries from incorrect usage of the equipment.
Trainers often face difficulties helping elderly or persons with disabilities (PWDs) to proper equipment access for the fear of causing harm or injuries. This could be due to the lack of appropriate knowledge approach to prescribing gym exercises for special conditions (e.g. disabilities) and the lack of manual handling skills to helping elderly or PWDs in getting onto a machine.
This course will harness fitness professionals with relevant knowledge and skills to create evidence-based training programs for elderly and PWDs using HUR Activ8 strength training concepts. The course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to confidently prescribe resistance training to elderly and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
